Engage ICT: Women in Politics and The GOP, hosted by 1A's Joshua Johnson

Engage ICT: Women in Politics and The GOP, hosted by 1A's Joshua Johnson KMUW partnered with 1A Across America to present a special edition of Engage ICT: Democracy on Tap. This event, focused on women in politics and the GOP, was guest hosted by 1A's Joshua Johnson on October 8 at the Crown Uptown Theatre in Wichita, Kansas.

Things have changed a lot for women over the last hundred years, from winning the right to vote to holding more seats in Congress than ever before. Democratic women swept the 2018 midterms, and now a record number of Republican women are planning to run for office in 2020. We heard from two women in politics on why they ran, how they serve, and why they chose the party they did.

The conversation is scheduled to air Thursday, October 24, at 10 a.m. CT on 1A.

Special thanks to the 1A Across America team, Crown Uptown Theatre, Digital Brand, Tanya's Soup Kitchen and the Wichita Public Library.

Panelists:

Jennifer Baysinger, Vice President of Political Affairs for the Kansas Chamber
Barbara Bollier, Democratic member of the Kansas Senate, representing District 7 (Johnson County)
Jim McLean, Kansas News Service political reporter
