How to Edge Fasten the First Board Next to the Structure You can use a CAMO® Pro Series Guide to fasten your first board next to the structure. Simply start your Edge Deck Screw about a half an inch into the board, slide the board up next to the structure, then drive the screw the rest of the way. Then, you can face fasten the edge of the board closest to the structure, or use an L-bracket to secure the board from underneath.

If you’re Edge fastening grooved deck boards, we recommend using CAMO Starter Clips on the side of the board next to the structure. Then, you just tilt your board up slightly and push it into the clips—no face fastening or L-brackets required. Watch this video to learn more:
