WATCH: Cipollone says obstruction of Congress charge is ‘ridiculous’ | Trump impeachment trial White House counsel Pat Cipollone said House Democrats’ allegation that President Donald Trump has obstructed Congress by not allowing witnesses to testify in the impeachment inquiry is “ridiculous.” Speaking during the start of the impeachment trial, Cipollone said Trump has a constitutional right to use the courts to try to block testimony. Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives in December on two articles — abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The trial will determine whether Trump is convicted of those charges and will be removed from office or acquitted.
