Not only will we discover the Flora and Fauna of the the Amazon: We'll also visit an indigenous community on the other side of the river.
From the tribe I learn about the traditional ways of harvesting and cooking food and, OF COURSE: The traditional hunting methods! We're using the blowgun (usually dipped in poison) and learn to throw spears.
Exploring the Ecuadorian Amazon was always a definite bucket list item of mine and it might well be my personal top sight in Ecuador.
While I'm busy learning how to forage my own food and survive alone in the rainforest, James is challenging himself to climb Ecuadors highest mountain: Chimborazo! It did not quite work out as planned, but You'll have to see for yourself...
If any of you are interested in an unforgettable experience in the rainforest, I can only recommend the Yachana Lodge. It is a beautiful destination for a solo travel adventure or a family vacation and there are plenty of different activities to choose from. I went back to the boat happy and with a head full of newly attained knowledge.
