Antiques, Art, historic buildings and old stuff - matter. It's another language that takes us to parts of who we are as a people that other historical evidence doesn't. The Decorative Arts Movement was one of the most important things going on in the arts & humanities in the late 20th century. The study of early American life and material culture was part of the birthing of many museums - small, large, local, national, historic and art.
