In fast paced online shooters where the time to death is extremely short, your internet connection speed and that of your opponents will significantly impact the experience you all end up having. Rainbow Six Siege with its one-hit-kill headshots, is a prime example of a game where even a couple dozen milliseconds in terms of ping can make all the difference when getting peeked by an opponent. The general rule of thumb is that the peeker has the advantage and it is widely accepted that the higher his or her ping, the more lag and ghosting effect they will have in game and the more time they have to kill you after moving out of cover.
