Curbing rape cases: CJ Maraga warns the youth Chief Justice David Maraga has voiced alarm over the rising cases of defilement and urged religious leaders to counsel the youth against the vice.
Speaking during the commissioning of a new court building in Nyamira County, Maraga expressed fears over the rising cases of defilement in the country with many youths below the age of 30 serving sentences  in the prison for engaging in the crime.
Maraga promised to open more courts in the country to reduce the backlog of cases and encouraged communities to embrace mediation in resolving disputes to avoid the long period taken to be determine cases in court.
Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama promised to allocate the judiciary office space to facilitate the process of mediation.
