I don’t think this video conveys the extreme fear-factor of my zip-lining adventure in the Rocky Mountains—over the pines and roaring creek. It was my very first time. There’s all sorts of panic when you leave a 65 ft.-high platform and fly through the air at 45 m.p.h. into the unknown. Plus, it was shivery cold. When the sun goes behind the mountain, the wind starts whipping through the canyon, a snow begins to fall, and you’re screaming down the line—I was shaking for more reasons than one.
I know you’ll notice the guides were running around in regular shirts and were so nonchalant about it all. But they don’t count. There’s people who are X-Games types and those that aren’t. I’m not.
But, rise above the fear I did. There is a total rush to overcoming something you consider dangerous. I suppose there’s a real element of risk. But I’m pretty sure the elation comes from winning over your personal obstacles.
And yeah, I will be back! I checked out other zip-lining experiences on YouTube and there’s a world of amazing adventure out there.
