BARNSTABLE – Shortly after 3:00 a.m. this morning, a homeless man (very likely camped out in the nearby woods) heard a loud crash and called the Barnstable Police Department.
After searching Mary Dunn Road, an officer spotted the tail lights of a crashed vehicle, stopped and stranded across a travel lane on the Route 6 overpass. It was a very dangerous situation...
As you will see in the following HN Video, Barnstable Patrolmen had to quickly climb up onto the fenced highway overpass in order to prevent another accident.
Marked State Trooper units arrived a short while later and protected the crashed vehicle.
The driver told HN he had dozed off while driving. And that he had been working a 14 hour shift at a restaurant in Plymouth. He felt very fortunate officers came along when they did.
