Seoul is taking part in a multilateral marine exercise called Sea Dragon.
It involves Patrol aircraft from South Korea, Japan, the U.S. and Australia training under the command of Andersen Air Force Base in Guam... to capture a virtual enemy's submarine.
The drill is drawing attention as Seoul has been scaling down joint exercises with Washington in consideration of the denuclearization talks with Pyeongyang.
It's also the first drill that South Korea and Japan are both taking part.. since their row over export restrictions and intel-sharing pact.
Observers say the Sea Dragon is designed to enhance coordination to tackle threats stemming from the regime's development of submarine-launched ballistic missiles.
