Michael Lobo: CCTV surveillance a must to reduce crimes in coastal belt

I urge the Hon. CM Dr. Pramod Sawant to install CCTV cameras along
the state’s coastal belt to reduce crime. Once the CCTV cameras are installed along the coastal belt, the initiative should be extended to the
state capital and towns like Mapusa, Margao, Ponda and Vasco. It will help the police to crack down on drug trafficking, chain snatching, etc. Presently, if a tourist’s bag is stolen, police file a missing complaint instead of a theft case. With CCTV footage, police will be able to file theft cases and recover the stolen goods.
