KENYANS IN TROUBLE AS TOUGH EZEKIEL MUTUA VOWS TO REGULATE SOCIAL MEDIA!

KENYANS IN TROUBLE AS TOUGH EZEKIEL MUTUA VOWS TO REGULATE SOCIAL MEDIA! The Kenya Films Classification Board (KFCB) chief executive officer, Ezekiel Mutua has called for regulation of social media in Kenya in order to tame the spiraling moral decay among the youth.

Addressing members of the public during a thanksgiving party hosted at Mwala police station to enhance good working relations between police officers and the public, the moral cop noted many people were abusing social media and using it to propagate immoral behavior and crime instead of engaging in constructive matters.

He urged members of the National Assembly to consider passing a law to enforce responsible use of social media, which, he said will not amount to gagging free speech.

Mutua said KFCB will support a program to promote clean content by supporting artists whose works promote positive social values like honesty, hard work, perseverance, and teamwork.

He revealed the choice of the launch venue was informed by a recent survey that identified Kamba secular music as the leading in the propagation of obscene and immoral content.

Mutua said KFCB will also sponsor national awards in all counties to appreciate police officers who distinguish themselves in service particularly in guiding the youth and ensuring compliance with the Board’s regulatory requirements for filming licenses and content rating.

On the side of police, Ezekiel Mutua said that the state should start a National Day for Police to appreciate officers who have distinguished service and are working selflessly for the sake of Nation building. He added that he has started the kitty from his pocket and deposited kshs 500,000 for the program.

At the same time, Machakos deputy governor Francis Maliti said a well thought out social media regulation in the country will not only promote positive moral values but will also tame social media-driven hatred and character assassination.
