How to Perfectly Apply Cream Foundation with a Brush for a Natural Finish

How to Perfectly Apply Cream Foundation with a Brush for a Natural Finish Cream foundations aren’t known only for their high coverage but also to help achieve a natural dewy look! Since they are waxier and blend beautifully, they are great for people with dry skin.

Tools You’ll Need:

- A Moisturiser
- A Cream Foundation of your Skin Tone
- A Dense Foundation Brush
- (Optional) Face Powder
- Powder Brush

Step 1: Apply a Good Moisturiser

To get best results when you use makeup products, it’s important to choose a good moisturiser based on your skin type, one that will hydrate and moisturise your skin.

It does not only help your skin look good but also helps you apply cream foundation as it will slip on and blend better on a moisturised rather than dry surface.

Step 2: Apply Cream Foundation with a Brush to Get a Natural Finish.

As cream foundation already has a stronger coverage, it’s not necessary to use a lot of products as this can feel uncomfortably heavy and cakey, which is what we are trying to avoid! We want to achieve a lightweight and natural finish.

Make sure that the shade of your cream foundation matches with your skin tone. By adding a bit with your finger to your cheek and jawline area, and then blending it in with your finger, the shade should melt into your skin tone, and you shouldn’t be able to see where you’ve applied it – that’s the right shade!

There are two ways to apply it and make it work for you:

1) Take out a bit of your cream foundation and add it to the back of your hand and make it smoother and softer with your finger or a brush for easier application. This way the cream foundation won’t be that stiff.

2) Get some cream foundation on to your brush directly from the compact and apply it to your face.

Whatever works the best for you. Some cream foundations are already a bit softer while others are quite stiff, which you first have to warm up.
To get the lightweight and natural application, it’s important that you use less!

Add a bit of foundation on the brush and then blend it into the skin. First, start with your cheeks and forehead, as those are larger areas. Use circular motions to blend the cream foundation into the skin. Then move on to the chin, nose and around the eyes with just a tiny bit of foundation. You should still be able to see your skin and skin texture through the foundation.

If you have some blemishes or breakouts to cover up, you can do so by adding a little bit more of cream foundation with a concealer brush or your finger and blend it into the skin.

Step 3: Face Powder

Depending on your skin type, you might also want to use a bit of face powder that matches you skin tone on a powder brush and dust this over the main areas. You can also use a bit of face powder to secure your makeup in certain areas, like under your eyes – in this case, use a smaller face or eyeshadow brush for application.

This is how you can perfectly apply cream foundation with a brush for a natural finish.
