A Floating corner seat in a shower is visually pleasing and can give more shower floor space in a small shower. A solid piece of stone is usually used to build the seat and is inserted into the tile for support while building the shower. Relying on just the tile to support the corner seat is probably not a good idea. In this video I show a simple method to build a corner seat support out of the same foam backer board to build the shower, no need to by a 2" piece of foam board to do this. The installation of the support is quick and easy and very strong. Either an adhesive sealant appropriate for the foam board can be used, or thinset to adhere and bond the seat in place. All tile installed by Sal DiBlasi, Elite-tile Company, in the Boston North Shore area.
