Homophones are words with same pronunciations but with different origins, meanings and spellings. I have a lot of students being
confused mostly with spellings
of homophones.
For example: Instead of writing. Please bare with me one second. (When they are being late in class)
They will write "Please bear
with me"
Another thing: Buy buy teacher
Instead of bye bye teacher!
The problem with homophones is,
When you say them, you don't
spell it in your mind,.You just say it. The secret to
know which homophone to use is
"know the context"
Please don't confuse homophones with homographs.
