CDC CHANGES Prevnar 13 Vaccine Recommendation 2019 | Pharmacy Healthcare Professional | Edgy Edge

CDC CHANGES Prevnar 13 Vaccine Recommendation 2019 | Pharmacy Healthcare Professional | Edgy Edge In November 2019, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) made an update on the Pneumococcal Vaccine guidelines. Specifically they took away the recommendation for healthy individuals 65 years of age or older to get Prevnar 13 (PCV13).

In this video I talk about what pneumococcal disease is and the history of Prevnar 13. In addition, I dive into the data that the CDC uses to make this new vaccine recommendation. Proper vaccination is important for your health as well as the health of your community. If you are unsure if you should get vaccinated or not, talk to your healthcare provider.

Here is the link to the sources I used as well as the link to the specific medical condition that change the recommendation.
