What size yabbies are big enough to eat

What size yabby is big enough to eat? How many centimeters should the carapace length be before we keep a yabby for a feed?
I get this question occasionally, and have received it a few times just recently, so in this video I answer the question publicly to help other people who may be wondering the same thing.
There is no minimum size limit on yabbies. If there was, we wouldn't be able to keep any for bait!
Yabbies vary so much from waterway to waterway. Some waterways have heaps of small yabbies, some have a lot of large yabbies and some have no yabbies.
This is all dictated by the available food supply, the substrate of the dam etc...
In some dams, yabbies just do not grow big. You never see big yabbies. In this case, you may want to keep the biggest yabbies from that dam, which may very well be perfectly unacceptable from other waterways due to being too small.
