Alright, so here's the deal. I kind of feel that that whole little wave of what was going on with scarcity of models at the ADs is about to end.
Models like the James Cameron, the Deepsea 43, the Batman Jubilee, I feel like there's an influx of merchandise and there's a lot more than there was let's say eight months ago.
All of these sales reps at these ADs are calling their guys and they're saying, “Hey, guess what I got? I got the James Cameron. I got the Batman Jubilee. I got the Sea-Dweller red.” So everybody thinks it's like, “Oh my God. They actually got one. I gotta go get it!”
No you don't. They're out there. I'm not really even buying any right now, you know, unworn stuff like that. I'm doing more of the pre-owneds right now.
Just feel like that's where you get more value on certain pieces of course. If you're gonna get a watch at retail, that's gonna be under the preowned price, then duh, obviously that's more value, but you know, right now I'm holding off of those pieces because I'm a little concerned that there's gonna be a lot more watches in the beginning of next year.
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that they're gonna over produce. You see Rolex don't do that, but definitely there has been an increase in production. The watches are showing up and you're gonna see how it's gonna happen right as we get through the Holidays and into the New Year.
I feel like there's just an incredible supply of James Cameron. I mean, isn't that supposed to be like a special watch? I don't know. I thought it was supposed to be more of a rare piece, but there's a lot pumping out, you know?
Believe it or not, I'm getting a lot of people also calling me with the Daytonas.
And that's when it really started to set off that alarm in my head and I said, “Man, that's an increase in watches!” There hasn't been any watches for a little while, the ADs have been kind of dry on Subs, stuff like that.
Don't be surprised, which is probably what the move is, unlike other brands, Rolex even though they have an in-house movement unlike some other brands, they will redo their in-house movement multiple times to make it better and improve so on and so forth.
So, what clearly and obviously is gonna happen is they're probably gonna come out with the new Sub with a new reference number, new movement, what not. I mean, I don't know how much more you can improve the Submariner. It's almost a perfect watch and just like that, they're gonna start shipping. I mean, don't get me wrong. I don't think there's gonna be like an overly influx of watches, but the production is gonna increase.
It's just starting to show up watches everywhere right now, brand new. I'm telling you there's a lot of watches right now, so Rolex has definitely turned up the production.
The weirdest part to me is how many of those watches are shipping right now.
Those three models, Deepsea 43, James Cameron and the Batman Jubilee.
It's crazy what happened with the Batman Jubilee. I mean right off the gate it had all this hype and I find it a bit slow right now.
I feel like the Batman Jubilee has definitely slowed down.
I had phone calls when they first came out and people were telling me that if I could get the first one in Miami, they would pay $25,000. That's pretty remarkable, $25,000 for that. I mean, I wouldn't pay that, but people were calling me and asking me for that.
Right now, people are offering them to me and I'm not really buying them, not because it's not a good a watch. Not because I don't wanna sell them. It's just because I'm not sure what's gonna happen in the market, so I'm waiting to see, but it's safe to say that right now Rolex is increased production for sure.
So again, I don't think there's gonna be like a crazy, mass production, but definitely coming into the New Year, I believe there's gonna be a lot more Subs and stuff like that, are gonna start to pop up.
Right now I think depending on the watch that you're buying preowned, you're gonna get a better value. Obviously, for those watches that are over...
