Charles Darwin and terracotta sculptures of flora and fauna | Natural History Museum

Charles Darwin and terracotta sculptures of flora and fauna | Natural History Museum A statue of Charles Darwin sits inside the Natural History Museum in Kensington, London. The museum also houses one of the first editions of Darwin's 'The Origin of Species'.
Visitors are greeted by the skeletons of the blue whale hanging from the ceiling in the Hintze Hall.
The museum was designed by English architect Alfred Waterhouse in the 1800s. The walls of the building are made of terracotta to withstand the pollution in London at the time of its construction. Sculptures of flora and fauna are sculpted on the walls of the museum. It is one of the largest of its kind in the world.
