The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared childhood obesity to be a public health challenge ( with obesity rates surpassing 40% in many parts of the world. Adults too are facing these challenges, with obesity rates reaching an alarming 70% in certain regions. (
Both parents and teachers alike have become increasingly concerned with these numbers and are looking at ways to tackle it through proper nutrition.
The Free Schools of Scientific Research for Children (E.L.I.C.) has developed programs and dynamic games that focus on food education, together with its implications to the environment and the use of the world’s natural resources. We seek to develop ecological practices through knowledge, respect and positive relationships with our environment.
This is part of an even larger global movement, working to reduce our ecological footprint through the foods we eat.
The project will be carried out in different European countries. We also plan to participate in the Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF2020), an international event that will take place in Trieste, Italy, from July 5 to 9, 2020.
