US, Turkey agree on Turkish ceasefire with Syrian Kurds Turkey and the United States have reached a deal to halt the offensive in northeast Syria.
It was agreed after US Vice President Mike Pence travelled to Turkey's capital for talks with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Kurdish fighters have been given five days to withdraw from a region where Turkey wants to enforce its so-called "safe zone".
