PRABHÁTA SAMGIITA
Prabhata Samgiita is a body of 5018 songs composed by Shri Shri Anandamurtiji.,
socially known as Shrii Prabháta Rainjana Sarkar. It is a distinctly new school (Gharana)
in the world of music, rich in lyrical import, heart-regaling melody and rhythm, and
perfect diction. This marathon composition began at Deoghar, Bihar, on 14 September
1982, and was completed by 20 October 1990 a period of only eight years. Each song
has a distinct gharana (school of music) with its own characteristic style. The Sanskrit
word for "dawn" is Prabhata. In many people's opinion, Prabhata Samgiita marks the
glorious and sublime dawn of a new era in the realm of music and culture. For this reason
also, this school of music is known as Prabhata Samgiita. The collection contains songs
for multifarious occasions: herein are songs of devotion, songs of social resurgence, folk
songs, children's songs, ballads, etc. Prabhata Samgiita represents a perfect blending
of oriental classical music with Persian, Scandinavian, middle Eastern, Chinese and other
important musical styles of the world.


A total of 5018 songs were composed by Shrii PR.Sarkar in
eight languages viz., Bengali, Samskrta, Hindi, Urdu, English,
Maethali, Angika, Magahi. A total of about 40 songs were
composed in languages other than Bengali. 5018 songs or
PS were composed in a total of 8 years,1 month and 7 days
(2957 days).

The first song was composed on September 14,1982 in
Deogarh (Blhar/now Jharkhand, India) and the last two songs
were composed in Tljala, Kolkata, India. The 5017th song
was on establishing Anandanagar and 5018th song was on
establishing AM Gurukula.
