You can go to almost every city and find good gospel singers but I don't think that there are many cities that can out-sing Memphis. Of course, I'm biased. LOL! I'm not just talking about choirs, groups, and soloist but you can form an impromptu choir from the people in the audience and have a great choir. Such was the case last Saturday, Sept 7, 2019, at Overton Park S.D.A. Church under the leadership of Pastor Fred Montgomery. Minister Tasha Neal Emory sponsored a benefit concert for Zondra Morrow, the musician for St. Paul Baptist Church and Bethany S.D.A. Church, who was shot three times at point-blank range during a robbery attempt in June. By God's grace, he survived. It was reported that he died twice during surgery but God brought him back. Praise the Lord! It was a wonderful, Spirit-filled concert with Overton Park-Bethany District S.D.A. Choir, Wendell Weathers & Greater Purpose, Voices of Psalms, Pam Armour & The Shop, Mt. Moriah East Baptist Choir, Tasha Emory & For His Glory, Demetria Barnes, Olivet Fellowship Choir and Turrell Heights S.D.A. Choir. The plan was to form a mass choir from all of the groups to do two songs at the end of the concert. By that time, some people and gone and the hour was far spent. So it was decided to just do one song, "I Almost Let Go", with the audience being the choir and Judith Farmer doing the solo. It turned out great! "Only in Memphis". Usually, when you hear that, it's something negative or bad but this time it's something good. Here it is. Enjoy!
