This is why it is important for you to submit a diagnosis, DBQ and Nexus Letter when you initially file your claim because in a lot of cases the VA will accept the DBQ you submit. Even if you are sent for a C&P exam and you probably will, if you know what is on yours the process will go quickly and all of your symptoms will match what you filed on your claim for veterans benefits. These doctors are not there to prescribe you medications or make you better in any way. If you need a C&P exam you will likely be contacted within a month of filing your claim. The VA or the company they contracted will call you up and schedule the exam and you will also get an idea about what you are being examined for. If you filed a claim for 5 things and they are only wanting to verify one thing I wouldn’t worry and I would argue that you are probably in good shape because Va only wants to verify one out of the five things that you filed a claim for. Veterans have many questions about C&P exams and I created this list of 8 things to answer some of the most common questions about C&P exams. I have been through 5 different C&P exams and they have been similar in nature over the past 10 or so years. I have also been through a few independent medical exams for a work-related injury so I actually have something to compare them too. C&P exams are a lot less stressful than independent medical exams and I will just leave it there.
