4th Grade Math 2.3, Multiply Tens, Hundreds, Thousands

4th Grade Math 2.3, Multiply Tens, Hundreds, Thousands By understanding place value, we can multiply tens, hundreds, and thousands. The number of zeros in the factors tells us how many zeros to put in the product. We can also use quick drawings to help us by drawing little boxes for each hundred, then counting how many hundreds we made. We can use a number line to multiply tens, hundreds, thousands, or larger place values. We can think of multiplication as repeated addition. We can use patterns of basic facts and zeros showing each product will be 10 times more than the previous amount. We use reasoning to find a missing factor. An inverse operation is an opposite operation. Multiplication and division are inverse operations because they undo each other. We find the basic fact as division to solve for the missing factor. We solve a multi-step word problem involving multiplication and addition. We review the Order of Operations as parentheses first, multiply or divide from left to right, then add or subtract from left to right.
