what is a drug? The US FDA gives several definitions of a drug. (1) a substance recognized by an official pharmacopoeia or formulary. (2) a substance intended for the use in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease. (3) a substance (other than food) intended to affect the structure or any function of the body. Based on these definitions, cometics, soaps, and dietary supplements are not drugs.
