“For the Christian, praying and reading God’s word should be like breathing. Just as breathing is the response of physical life to the presence of air, so prayer and God’s word should be the response of spiritual life to the presence of God.
THRUST STATEMENT: Our spiritual lives depend upon prayer and the Word of God.
Things To Know About Prayer and God’s Word:
PRAYER Dialogue between God and people, especially those in covenant relationship with Him.
1. Hearing:
We hear from God (His call)
God hears our cries
2. Conversing:
(w/God)
(God conversing w/you)
3. Interceding:
(for others)
What to do in prayer:
Persist
Ask
Intercede
The Word (The Word of God/the Bible) Is the inspired written word of God.
1. God’s Word Is Our Weapon/Protection:
The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (Ephesians 6:17)
The word of God is living and active (Heb. 4:12)
2. God’s Word is Everlasting/Enduring
The word of our God stands forever (Isa. 40:8);
The word of the Lord remains forever (1 Pet. 1:25);
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not (Luke 21:33);
My words will not pass away (Matt. 24:35)
What Should We Do With The Word:
Read it
Desire it: (1 Peter 2:2-3)
Do Something With It: (James 1:22; Psalm 119:9,11)
