The Iraqi government's Operation 'Will of Victory' against the remnants of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) drew to a close after its fourth and final day in the eastern province of Diyala on Thursday.
Commanders from the Iraqi Army and the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) characterised the third phase of the operation as a success.
In interviews, they revealed that several militant hideouts were discovered, potentially harming the militant group's future capabilities.
In the video, security forces can be seen out on patrol securing agricultural land once used by IS in Al Mansuriyah. Mortar shelling against IS positions was also filmed.
Operation Victory Will began on July 7 and its first phase lasted for seven days. It aimed to secure the desert regions leading to the Syrian border.
While Iraq declared victory against IS in July 2017, the militant group has since turned into an insurgency carrying out a string of deadly attacks across the country. They did lose their final slice of directly-controlled territory in Syria in March this year.
