Don't let the wind determine your direction | Shubham Jaglan | TEDxStXaviersCollegeKolkata Shubham Jaglan’s breathtaking story of ascent from Israna village in Haryana to the Delhi Golf Club to three world golf championships sounds like it came out of a fiction novel. Jaglan is perhaps India’s most accomplished prodigy golfer with xyz awards and a world record to his name. Crazy as it sounds, the youngster has started playing in Golf Tournaments organised for senior golfers because of the domination he holds in his age category. Shubham Jaglan’s talk is a wonderfully spun medley of the challenges in his life and the achievements that came out of surmounting them. He takes us through a mindful narration of how his mentality has entirely shaped his life as he says in his speech - “You are not what happened to you. You are what you choose to be”. Shubham chose to be nothing short of a 21st century wonder. Throughout his speech he casually dropped lines which seemed so natural to him but left the audience absolutely starstruck. He packs in a lifetime worth of value in his talk focussing on the power that lies within ourselves.
In his remarkable words -
“ Winds have never blown your way. Never have. Never will. It is absolutely your responsibility to adjust your stroke in a way that the wind carries the ball where it should land. But if it does not, don’t blame the wind “ Shubham Jaglan is a 14 year old golfer with 4 Junior World Championships to his name. An avid pursuer of his dreams, Jaglan comes from a small town in India. Irrespective of his financial and topographical conditions, Jaglan continued to play golf and train with modes such as YouTube. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at
