News24 - Man Utd 'to have transfer proposal worth over £100m rejected'
======================================
Manchester United are reportedly set to fail in their bid to sign Joao Felix - despite a proposal worth over £100m. The Portuguese wonderkid is in-demand with top European clubs after a stunning breakthrough season but has a £105m release clause putting off potential suitors. According to Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha , United are planning a proposal which will meet the value of the release clause - but not in one go. They are plotting a deal with an initial fee of £80m with additional clauses which could see the fee rise over £100m. The report claims United will sell two of their star players and reinvest the money in Felix - but Benfica president Luis Filipe Viera does not intend to accept. Viera is said to have been made aware of United's plan and will insist on the £105m release clause being met in order to part with the 19-year-old talent. United are facing serious competition for Felix's signature, including from local rivals Manchester City . City chairman Ferran Soriano reportedly held a meeting with Benfica chief Viera and agent Jorge Mendes in London on Thursday to discuss a potential move. Real Madrid , meanwhile, have withdrawn from the race after their attempts to tempt Benfica with a £70m bid plus a loan back to the Portuguese club was rebuffed. It seems whoever is willing to trigger Felix's huge release clause could win the race for the Portugal international, who ended his magnificent season with a run of 13 goals and eight assists in his final 19 games. Felix is currently with the Portugal national side as they get set to host the Nations League finals.
