Is Dubai chock full of bandos to rip? Not so much. What you see on my channel is the few flyable needles we find in the haystacks of a construction boom.
So how do we find these spots? What I don't do is rock up at random spots with my gear and try to fly. Not looking to hit it and quit it. That approach can be a total disaster if something goes wrong or anybody complains.
What I look for is fun, flyable and repeatable spots. Spots where you can spend some time. Spots where nobody notices or cares that you're there. Spots you can come back to time and again.
How? A few steps:
1. The hunting. Lots and lots of this. Checking Google maps, word of mouth, day to day driving around, dedicated wardriving, foot recon and observation.
2. The validation. How far away? How easy is access? How abandoned is it? Is it human safe? Will anybody care?
3. Flying. Is it flyable? What's the difficulty level? What's the sketch factor? Are there good lines? Is it fun? Are there ways to rescue crashed quads?
If you make it through all three steps then yeah, you've got a good spot. It's a never ending process and takes a lot of effort...but in the end it's worth it.
