But since the announcement of AtGames releasing a full-size home Arcade with 350 licensed games, even more developments have come to light in the last few days.
Because many don't hold the Sega Genesis Flashback console as a "premium emulation device", many likely assume that AtGames would use pour emulation and cheap hardware in the new AtGames Legends Ultimate Home Arcade. Yet, what we find is: the two Spinners included in the cabinet are consider the best drop-in replacement spinners for the Arcade1Up cabinet. AtGames could not have picked a better spinner! It's a popular spinner and is highly recommended by many people.
Next, many were sad when they heard Harold Chizick (CMO of Arcade1Up / CEO of Chizcomm) is no longer working together with Arcade1Up. If you are not familiar with Harold, he himself is very involved in the Arcade1Up community, going far and beyond what you would expect from a CMO/CEO. When he broke the news that he wouldn't be working with A1Up, people replied with heartfelt responses of how much he would be missed.
Of course, with the news that AtGames was releasing a new cabinet, many joked that maybe he left to work with AtGames. Well, yes, that happened! So Harold, and his company Chizcomm, will be working closely with AtGames as they help develop this new product.
Putting these two things together, I can no longer look the other way.
I can't ignore this fact that Harold knows exactly what it would take to make AtGames successful. I'm sure he is going to try hard to persuade AtGames to use the best emulation they can (within reason, don't expect FPGA or MiSTer in this thing) and great joysticks and buttons.
I'm sure we will hear more as news comes out from the E3 announcements and perhaps word from those that tested the prototype. Hopefully we will hear about some great games too.
