Beckett Simonon Cohen Penny Loafer Review: Great For Business Casual
[00:46] Style & Construction
The Cohen is a classic penny loafer with the characteristic band & finish inside. This comes from Beckett Simonon's Bogotá, Colombia workshop.
The construction features full-grain Argentinian calfskin leather and a wholecut vachetta lining, plus a slight suede interior finish. The vachetta lining covers all of the interior stitching.
Cohen loafers are available in many colors, but I have the tan leather version here. The moccasin toe finish is a nice stylistic touch.
[01:18] Comfort & Fit
These are very comfortable shoes which I wear on a regular basis, and they're great for the summertime.
In terms of sizing, I generally take size 9 US, 42 EU. Here, the Cohen loafers are in size 9.5, as I thought that would prevent pinching and ease break-in. However, I now realize that wasn't a great idea, as I needed to use an alternate insole for a proper fit.
Hence, I recommend that you stick to your exact size when ordering from Beckett Simonon.
Blake Stitch construction means that these shoes break in quickly and easily. In this case, As these are mainly a summer shoe, the extra water resistance a Goodyear Welt would provide is less necessary.

I'm generally very fond of Beckett Simonon, as you know, and find their shoes a very worthwhile investment. Keep in mind, though, that the brand uses a group made-to-order business model.

I love wearing these shoes, especially in business casual attire like I'm wearing here. The tan color in particular fits a business casual wardrobe beautifully. For example, it wears well with light greys and khakis.
