Workshop on effective implementation of Juvenile Act held in Kishtwar Kishtwar, May 28:
District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana today chaired a meeting to discuss the effective implementation of Juvenile Justice Act in the district.

The meeting among others was attended by the Principal Magistrate JJB, Sudhir Khajuria, SSP Kishtwar, Shakti Kumar Pathak, Chairperson CWC, Mohal Lal Thakur, ACD Kishtwar, Anil Kumar Chandail, DCPO Kishtwar, Tariq Parvez Qazi, ALC Kishtwar, CMO , DYSSO Kishtwar, CPO, Superintendent Bal Ashram and District jail, members of the CWC, JJB , Social workers, District Child Protection Units representatives of Child care institutions and others.

The meeting was convened for making all stake holders aware about child's rights, role of administration and society towards child in need of care and protection, children in conflict with law besides roles and responsibilities towards child protection.

During the discussion, DDC briefed the participants about their role as enshrined under Juvenile Justice System.

He further emphasized upon all the organisations to work in close coordination and with active cooperation for the proper rehabilitation of the children in need of care and protection and child in conflict with law.

He asked to work with zeal and zest for the destitute children and take necessary steps towards bringing the deserving children before Child Welfare Committee and Justice Juvenile Board for the betterment and bright future of highly depraved , desolate and destitute children of society.

He directed concerned officers to conduct regular meeting with general public in this regard so that the awareness could be imparted at grass root level.


SSP Kishtwar asked all the participants to make holistic and continuos efforts to ensure wholesome development of these children so that they also lead a dignified life.

Principal Magistrate impressed upon the district officer and asked them to play very important role in running the JJ system and there is dire need of coordination so that CPS is smoothly implemented at the ground level.

It was stressed upon the government, civil society and NGOs that all of them have to work together for the betterment of the children and society as whole,” Principal Magistrate added.

District Child Protection Officer, Tariq Parvez Qazi informed about the status of work done in the district.

CWC Chairperson, Mohan Lal Thakur threw light on the guidelines and Juvenile Justice Act and the role of stake holders in performing duties.

Those who spoke on the occasion includes, ACD, Kishtwar, Anil Kumar Chandail, CMO Kishtwar Dr. Abdul Majeed , and Protection Officer (NIC) Touseef Iqbal Butt.
PO NIC, informed that they have already constituted Village Level Child Protection Commitees and Block Level Child Protection Committees for better delivery of the child protection services.
