Duesenfeld is recycling lithium-ion batteries and they do have a material recycling rate of 75 % already. With their own hydrometallurgical treatment they aim for a material recycling efficiency of 96% of the EV traction battery, compared to less then 25% which could be achieved theoretically by smelting processes alone. Duesenfeld processes save 40% of the carbon footprint of lithium-ion batteries of electric vehicles and can be done in a cost efficient manner.
