Working Equitation sounded like fun, so we tried it at a clinic this weekend (Happy Mother's Day to me!). It's kind of like Eventing, except the three events are Dressage, Ease of Handling (obstacle course), and a timed obstacle course. Sedona did great for her first attempt, excelling at the dressage event. Sadly, I had my usual difficulty with patterns for the Ease of Handling test (the obstacle course), and was flustered throughout, too preoccupied with trying to remember the course to help poor Sedona through the stations. I panicked after the bull, especially, walking to stall for time until I remembered the next obstacle. Sedona was a champ, and still pulled many 7's (a good score) throughout, despite not being trained to be guided one-handed and her Very Distracted rider. She is my bold little Principessa.
I skipped the actual rated competition itself, though from her scores during the clinic, she'd have done very well. It was too nerve-wracking for me, and I can tell from the tense carriage that she was concerned about my distress. She gets to have a nice, relaxing day off instead.
